2nd ANNUAL RUMMAGE FOR RESCUE SALE at St David's Episcopal Church

Four LOCAL animal rescue groups have joined forces again this year for RUMMAGE FOR RESCUE. This is a HUGE sale with a variety of items--jewelry/toys/games/baby & childrens clothing/books/linens/tools/plants. New pet items. Bake sale for humans & doggies. Meet the greyhounds @ Sam's Club on Forest Dr. at Sam's on Forest Dr

Greyhounds need love but they also need food and medical care from the time they leave the racetrack until the day they are adopted. Typically these "routine" costs are around $80 per month per dog. Dogs with injuries or illnesses can cost hundreds more to rehabilitate. Still our group only charges a $200 adoption fee. How can we do that? So how's Penny the greyhound doing?

Penny's been off the track and in her foster home for almost 4 weeks. Her transition has not been as smooth as most of the greyhounds, but then again she is a little younger (think "teenager"). During these first two years of her life, there have been only four constants in her life: a time to eat, a time to potty, a time to sleep and a time to race. New greyhounds arrive Saturday night

Racing greyhounds are usually transported between racetracks on haulers. Sometimes, retired racers bound for adoption groups are able to "catch a ride". The down side is that the hauler usually hits SC and the Columbia area between midnight and 3am. Saturday's haul got here a little earlier since the driver needed to be at his NEXT stop at 3am.Penny is one of the two greys sent to our adoption group on this trip.
