I love the “A-HA” moment. Whether it is my own or someone else’s flash of enlightenment is irrelevant – I find being involved in that period of time when one moves from the darkness to the light to be pure joy.

Such a moment took place just prior to the weekend while speaking at an association seminar in beautiful Charleston, SC. The white light descended on one of the attendees when he came to realize that regardless of his company’s size or reputation, when it came down to on-line competitiveness, they were being clobbered by smaller, but much more Web2.0 (marketing) savvy partnerships. When illustrating industry specific search terms, rankings and potential click through & conversion rates after the presentation, he simply asked me, “how can that be?”

Indeed. How can a company of over 1,000 professionals be dominated online by several firms of less than four employees? How can an organization of a few gain competitive advantage by allowing themselves to be found by thousands of potential clients each month while larger organizations struggle to be found by a couple hundred? In the world of inbound marketing, unlike its traditional outbound counterpart, size doesn’t matter – “know how” matters. That’s how.

Did I mention that I love the “A-HA” moment?
